Showcasing Your Personality
Written by Jasmine Star

I feel awkward even trying to recount the story.  I’ve been sitting here for 15 minutes concocting the best way to write it, but I’m at a loss.  I think the best way would be to start with the back-story.

Behind the Scenes:

  • Jasmine wants to get invited to a high-end industry mixer.  A place where air kisses are prevalent, and business cards are traded like the Lakers Playoff tickets—cautiously and with an air of entitlement.
  • Jasmine doesn’t get invited.
  • Jasmine has a friend-of-a-friend who was invited but got sick and couldn’t attend.  At the last minute, tickets were passed Jasmine’s way.
  • Jasmine was excited.
  • Jasmine enters the party, and drops her business card in a large carafe amongst the many other playoff tickets…oops, business cards
  • Jasmine can sometimes be socially awkward, so she stands by the dessert table in the corner and stares at people.
  • Jasmine leaves the party early for fear of being a sore thumb…and eating too many sweets.
