Wedding photographers may have some new tools this season to chisel out creative images in harsh lighting. The Radiopopper promises to provide Cannon & Nikon flash/speedlights the opportunity to break the 250th second barrier. I interpret this to permit use of pro glass, f/2.8 better regardless of speed. Often we have a session at 2 or 3 in June's harsh lighting and have to retreat to the open shade (with settings at f/16 due to the 250th sec flash limit) or be very confident with exposure compensation. The radiopopper at about $370 (Transmitter/Receiver) might break those chains, so it will be interesting to see some reviews other than promos. The other new light tool is the Ray Flash, made by the same company that introduced the Expo Disc for WB. Basically it is a portable ring flash that can again, be fitted on the Nikon and Cannon units. It will set you back about $300 and one light stop. Both these products will be hitting the market around May timeframe and should spark the interest of those in the wedding industry. I will interested in wedding photographers opinions or anyone with firsthand experience with these new flash modifiers. Worth the investment? Please, do tell.
