hello everyone!
well my hubby and I have decided to photograph weddings and other social events. i was wondering if perhaps someone here can sort of lead us in the right direction with the whole process of photographing a wedding. For example: the workflow of it. when do we take the formal shots, who and what do we shoot first, where do we start out, what equipment to take, ANYTHING will help! also, we are thinking of buying the nikon d300 to photograph the weddings....since it can shoot really well in low lighting. is that a good choice? the reason we want to buy it is because i have been looking at some wedding photos and a lot of them seem to be taken with the ambient/natural light and they are beautiful! thanks everyone! take care.

it sounds like you need to do a lot of research on this subject before jumping in with both feet. YOu'll be very happy with the D300, from other people's opinions who are wedding photogs. You can do a lot of reading at a bookstore, buy the books online, and you could join www.digitalweddingforum.com for free for a ton of info on wedding photography. This is an area that you can not take lightly.

Better yet, would be to second shoot for someone else. YOu should know how to shoot in RAW for best maximum quality of your images, but that could be debated, but if you are not experienced in church photography, then it could save you.

Good luck

Hi Dalmir23
I shoot with the d300s and I love them. I don't like to use flash a lot and the d300 has really worked for me. About group shot I try to get as many as I can done before the wedding. I am in the south so tradition plays a big part here like the bride and groom can't see each other untill she is walking down the isle. We shoot anywhere from 1500 to 2500 images a wedding I use photomechanic to go thru my images to edit out the one I don't want and I also use lightroom. Two really great imageing softwear.
