My website hosting term is up in a few months. I currently use globat.com for my hosting. I have had very little problems but I am plagued with early renewal notices and automatic, opt out, $40 upgrades. That drives me nuts.
What other hosting providers are folks using that have been a good experience and value?
Thanks,
-Ryan

Ryan,
Lately i've been using BlueHost.com with most of my clients and i've been very happy with their services and their support. You get a lot of bang for the buck with them.

I'm a happy client with WestHost.com for almost a year now....very good customer service with LiveChat.
GoDaddy.com is also quite popular.

I've been using netfirms for about 2 years now. Very happy so far. Good telephone support. I hate sending emails when I need help. I do run a MAC and I have found that some of the thngs that they offer are PC only. But so are most other things related to internet. I went to an ASMP web-optimization workshop a few months ago and the instructor highly recomended Go-Daddy. I did purchase a few domains from them but have not hosted with them yet. I get constant emails from Go-Daddy now.

Hey Gang,
Here is how i judge a new hosting company when shopping for a new one.
1. Call them on the phone and see what their hold time is like? Do they pick right up, do you sit on hold for 10 minutes or do they ask you leave a message or find an answer on their website.
2. Make sure they offer control panel access with their domains! This allows you to manage every aspect of your hosting account like setting up databases and installing applications on the server and setting up email accounts. The more you can do yourself the less you have to rely on the hosting company
3. Make sure they offer a sufficient amount of server space and bandwidth to fit your needs.
4. Make sure they support the most current technologies such as php and mysql, though you may not need them now it's better to have them available than to be suprised when you do and they don't offer it.
I recently set up Steve Dantzigs new website with godaddy and can attest that they do have kind of a strange control panel but they do have one. I'm not sure of their phone or technical support, but Steve seems to like them and I had no problems when setting up his site with them. So i'm happy to add them to my list of Good hosts.
For what it's worth, I hope this helps.

Aloha All!
A little late to chime in here, but I've used GoDaddy.com for all my hosting and domains for about 3 or 4 years now. I don't get a bunch of emails from them...only when they're about to renew something for me...Their phone support is very good, and I've never had a problem. And their pricing is GREAT!
