Now that virtually every major camera manufacturer is offering at least one pro-level SLR with HD video capability, the world of professional imaging is officially undergoing its second drastic change of the 21st century.
In 1999, digital photography was a novelty. By 2004, professionals who had spent their whole careers working with a certain set of tools were mourning the demise of their art, complaining about the influx of unskilled amateurs into the competitive arena, and predicting that new technology would lead to lower incomes for everyone.
Last year, DSLR video was a novelty. Right now, professionals who have spent their whole careers working with a certain set of tools are mourning the demise of their art, complaining about the influx of unskilled amateurs into the competitive arena, and predicting that new technology will lead to lower incomes for everyone.
Yep, it's happening again.
Only this time, it's happening to somebody else.
