Very interesting read and good to see our own Bert Krages interviewed in this article

It did bring up one very interesting point for me. It says that any place that is open to the public is fair game for shooting. I was stopped by a manager of the local starbucks here where i live for shooting inside the coffee shop a few months back. He told me it was against the companies policy to take pictures inside any starbucks. I thought this was absurd and looked it up on the internet only to find out that I wasn't the only one who had been stopped in the past and given this same story. Looks like the folks at Starbucks and their employees need to be educated as well.

Thanks for sharing this article.

It popped up over on the PhotoDistrictNews forum. I suppose we should all carry this info with us. I did read it a saying it was not illegal to photograph in a place like Starbucks or a mall but that they could ask you to leave and tell you never to come back. Banning you from their establishment. Is that how you read it? In that case. Then yeah. They pretty much can stop you from photographing on their property.

No the manager didn't ask me to leave he just told me that It was corporate policy for not photography to be allowed inside the store. It was just weird.

Yes I realize that is what happened to you but what I meant was is that how you read the article? That they can ask you to leave and ban you from coming back. Hence, yes, preventing you from photographing. I suppose you can ask anyone to leave private property.
