Hi, I had my first "senior graduation" pictures taken this evening. I haven't taken this kind of pictures before and it would be very helpful with some comments, so go ahead, don't hold back! I used Canon flashes on both pictures.

Well i think the exposure looks great i'm just so sure about the outfit and the flowers, maybe there is something that i don't know here. In the states I think a high school senior would be beaten up by his peers for an outfit like that

You europeans are always ahead of us so maybe in a year or so our seniors will be doing the same thing

Thanks Cris! I think I'm the only photographer who take this kind of pictures here in Finland. Others who I have seen have a some grey, blue backdrop. I think those backgrounds looks very old fashioned.

I really like the way you have framed the two guys, both using the background(s) and the strobe light.

The strobe power on the guy to the right is strong enough to balance the bright background, giving a very nice effect.

The left guy could use some more power, the contrast on his face is too high and the front of the face too dark - so more strobe power would enhance the focus on him.

Going to the extreme in perfection, add a diffuser to bring down the brightness on the right side of the face of the (camera) left guy. I am sure, you would love to carry around a large California Sunswatter panel with associated stands, booms and sand bags

You have a good eye for composition. I briefly believed it was one shot, with the guy on the right being 'around the corner, down a path'. That just shows how strong the focus is on the guys, it took my eyes quite some time before they started focusing on the ground and the right edge of the building, revealing this is clearly two separate shots.

It same person in both shots. I made an other picture, but I saw that I have missed placing the main light. Main should have been more to the camera or he clould turn his head more to the light. Easy to see fault back home, harder on location without modelling light.

I like both shots too. First shot is good fun! I agree that the second shot could be toned down a little, but very effective.

Here comes my soapbox again: Folks--get in the habit of placing your logo and or copyright notice in every image that you post online. If you don't protect you images then no one else will.
