White Studio Background 8 Months ago
Hello... I've been using a white seamless paper background for my portraits for a long time. It's nice and wide - nearly 10 feet. However, I'm doing some remodeling and would like to create something permanent. Any ideas how to create a nice, shiny white background? What kind of paints? Any information would be great! a guy from my camera club did that, although I don't know what type of paint to use, he did create a rounded bevel from the floor up onto the wall, so there wouldn't be any sharp corners, and the light just bounced. I don't remember what that is called....blonde moment, and I had it in my head too.....do you know what I mean?

for paints, go with a gloss or semi gloss if you want shiney. Good luck

Glossy paint is a pain to work with. Use matte paint. If you want shiny then throw a piece of plexiglass on top of it.

A long time ago I went to a seminar which I don't remember who it was, but he told us to use a white paint named doverwhit or dove white for a seemless background. But that was when we still used film.

If you mean a really glossy sheen to the wall surface go for a gloss white paint that has a lot of blue to it. Another product that will work for you is called BIN bullseye, or Kilz. These are covers up for stains on walls such as water spots. They are glossy due to the fact that they are shellacs instead of paints. Give these a look. Ed
