Ed, Both shots looks good. Since it is for a newspaper, the first floor shot will give a better image of the subjects face for print. Although I agree with comments about the posture, there are attributes in the 2nd image: a)The dog looks like its from the old RCA commercial b.)Provides a better view of the office envirnment and the diploma on the wall. So since this is not a family portrait or glamor etc, I think the 2nd image tells the story. Now my pups need a checkup, how do I get an appointment? Paul B

Well, (lucky me) she did agree on a re-shoot and I'll be doing that tomorrow. I will post the new ones once I have them ready...if I can figure out how I posted the last ones (LOL)
Thanks for your input.
Ed

Sorry for my absence, I was out of town. I liked the shot of her on the floor with the dog too...it seemed more personal...

Hope the re-shoot went well. Thought it was a little ironic that the eye doctor has a lazy eye. Hope you were able to compensate for that in the re-shoot.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Thanks all of you for your advice. I did the re-shoot and I feel it went well. The photo she chose for the newspaper was not MY favorite, but I find that happens a lot in portraiture...at least with my clients. Well, at least I made the paper - right?
Here is the photo she chose to use. It was cropped a bit more for the newspaper:
