I'm playing with raw light from Canon Speedlites (430EX and 580EX) and Photflex LitePanels. I think the panels gives nice natural look. Only problem is that some light can spill over to the background so the background is hard to set in the color as I want. My background is often our white kitchen wall.

Here is some pictures:

I start to like the LitePanels quite much. The are easy to work with and easy to take on location. Are you working with LitePanels and what is your experience?

Robert, just to be clear, what are you referring to as "light panels"? Reflectors? Scrims? A light bank?

Hey Stan,
I believe these are the Lite Panels that he's referring to by PhotoFlex
http://www.photoflex.com/Photoflex_Products/index.html?phase=search&page=0&new_metakey=794

I've got a couple of them and love them. Really flexible there are different fabrics you buy for the frames including the translucent, white, black, silver and gold. They are light weight and very reasonable.

OK, OK! But you know the Hammar man is in Sweden, or Finland or somewhere in the English as a 2nd language part of the world, so I was just trying to get clarification on that...so "Lite Panels" are either or, scrims or reflectors. So, I guess, Robert, what you're liking so much about lite panels is the versatility and construction?

I have used lightform ‘shoot through’ diffusion panel, Photoflex call them LitePanels. I use Photoflex brand, and think there are other manufactors to. And you can even build your own panel with pvc pipes.

They are cool and I really like them. And below my conclusion:

If the raw light is placed in right distance behind the panel I think I get the natural look of lightning, and the panel should be placed close to the subject out of sight. If I want harder light then it's easy to adjust by moving the light closer

They are easy to set up and they are cheap comparing with soft boxes.

I get a very cheap studio and I can use the "studio" where ever I go. I will dig into that next weekend in Stockholm, back to my home country. (I'm now based in Finland.)

Steve, I know about your article, but I have to do my own testing too
