OH man...that's sad. I hope they're not too hard to replicate. It's a good lesson for all of us...Make Sure You Save Your Actions!!

Hey Cris,

Hmmm, MAC? Do you mean that I should get some cosmetics???

I just asked around about saving the actions--there are apparently a few steps involved. I'll report back when I figure it out.

No, the actions were not all that complicated, so it won't be a major hassle...

Oooh yikes! This has been happening to a lot of people lately! I wonder if there's some virus targeting Photoshop. I hope not!

Anyway, try this...if you're on a Windows machine, go to your C: drive (or whatever drive your operating system is on)

C:>Documents and Settings>main account's administrator folder>Application Data>Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS2>Presets>Actions

Hopefully, your data will be in there. If not, you've probably lost them...you could always do a hard drive search for files ending in .atn and maybe find them that way.

Hope something works for you! This reminds me...I think it's time for me to back up my actions and brushes and put them in another folder, just in case!

Is there a fast/easy way to back up actions and brushes? My husband is my Photoshop guy and he was complaining bitterly about the process. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

What I do is just go into the folders where they're stored and then I copy them to another folder that's not in the Adobe grouping. That way, if anything in Adobe goes awry, I have them saved out of the way and safe from being overwritten or deleted when Adobe does the reinstall and clears all the subfolders.

That's a great idea. I learned that you have to create a new action set and store your custom actions within that set. THAT allows you to save the actions--and the save option is available each time that you add or modify an action.
