Ok--When I go to whiten the eyes, I use the lasso tool and a curves adj to brighten the eyes. There are some people who have some red in there and I want to desaturate the red. Is there any way to keep the same lasso selection so I don't have to go back and redo the lasso?

Try to save it as a selection--I think it becomes it's own alpha channel in that case. Later go to to the selection drop down menu and click "load selection." Something like that!

Steve's suggestion is a good one. Here's another way - and probably faster yet (once you get the hang of it):

After you've Lassoed the eyes and made the Curves Layers Adjustment you'll have a Layer Mask with the eyes masked out. Open the Hue/Saturation Layers Adjustment, click Okay with no adjustments (or adjust globally) and then do this: make sure that the Curves layer mask is highlighted and active. Put your mouse on the Curves Layer Mask, hold down Alt (Option-Mac) and drag the layer mask onto the Hue/Saturation's Layer Mask. Click Okay when Photoshop ask if you want to replace the Layer Mask. Now double-click on the Hue/Saturation Layer and use the sliders to minimize (or adjust) the red in the eyes.

There's a multiple number of ways to do the same thing in Photoshop. Here's another way to accomplish what you want to do without making another mask or selection: After you lighten the eyes in Curves, stay in the Curves operation and choose the Red channel in the Channel drop-down menu - then take the red out.

Hope this helps.

Tony

I lasso the eye white. Use hue/saturation to remove any red,or yellow from the eyes, then bump up the lightness slider. I am done ,end of story
