The Halo that Steve is referring to is a shoot through umbrella that has a back that you poke your strobe head through. I just picked up a couple of these for location work.

If you search ebay you can get pretty good deals on these amvona umbrella softboxes.

What's nice about them is that they work just like an umbrella and collapse down just like an umbrella so setup is a snap no speedring necessary.
