new monitor for PS retouching? 1 Year ago Karma: 0
Hi. I am concerned that my trusty CRT LaCie blue 21 is about to go out on me. Since CRTs are no longer being made, what LCD would you reccomend? SmartShooter used to have a monitor review area where the Apple Cinema Displays always rated poorly (I am a Mac user). I know Eizo has always received good reviews but Photoshop User Magazine just gave a great review to the Dell 2707 monitor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Aloha Jeff!

I've been enjoying my Gateway 22" FPD 2275 TFT LCD. With the brightness turned all the way to 0, and the contrast down to 15% along with Greytag Mackbeth eye one monitor calibrator, it's been giving me real accurate previews for imaging. Colors match beautifully coming off my Epson Stylus Pro printer. Real good price on this monitor too!

Thanks. I did just buy one of those Gateway monitors for my backup computer at home and have been very pleased with the display so far. I use a iMac 20" to run my Epson 9800 and have been pleased with it in spite of my original comment about Apple screens.

I have been looking into monitors and testing LCD for stability and print match and so far the best i have used is the NEC Multisync LCD2190uxi it is a little pricey but well worth the money

The Eizo ColorEdge was also WONDERFUL although the price difference was too great to justify for me.

Also the Lacie LaCie 321 was about equal to the NEC [they actually look like the same monitor with different printing]
