It's my turn to ask for help! I went to start Photoshop CS2 tonight and received an "end of file" error message saying that PS could not load my actions. I closed PS and shut down my computer. I rebooted and restarted PS--no message...but all the default settings [the one's that I had changed over time] were restored...and no actions. I went to the drop down menu to load the actions and my custom actions were not listed. Any ideas on where they went??? Starting over is a daunting idea.

Mahalo!

Oooh yikes! This has been happening to a lot of people lately! I wonder if there's some virus targeting Photoshop. I hope not!

Anyway, try this...if you're on a Windows machine, go to your C: drive (or whatever drive your operating system is on)

C:>Documents and Settings>main account's administrator folder>Application Data>Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS2>Presets>Actions

Hopefully, your data will be in there. If not, you've probably lost them...you could always do a hard drive search for files ending in .atn and maybe find them that way.

Hope something works for you! This reminds me...I think it's time for me to back up my actions and brushes and put them in another folder, just in case!

Thanks. I tried both of those...no luck. I doubt that it's a virus...everything else is fine and I run Norton anti-virus every night...just a weird glitch...

I think I know what happened: I received an e-mail from someone on another forum....Recording the actions doesn't SAVE them. They will apparently show up eachime you open PS...until you have a hard crash. You have to use the drop-down menu in the actions pallete to actually save them. Egg on my face!

Glad you solved that mystery.
But still get a MAC!

Just a little friendly ribbing among friends.
