I received the flashfacts DVD, and in the video it states 2/3 flash, 1/3 camera. What does this mean as far as setting your camera exposure and flash. I own a 430 speedlite, does the 580's have a percentage selection or something.

I have that DVD too and I found the statement confusing, so great question. There is not such a setting as 1/3, 2/3 on the 580EX.

Hey Guys!
Thanks for the question. There are no "settings" for the 2/3 to 1/3 ration needed for successful TTL, other that plain ole photo skills. I have just penned a new smArticle on this topic in detail, please hop on here and see if this helps?

Will, that helps!

I have found that underexpose ambient about 1/3 stop works fine too, but it's matter of taste as always. My setup is Statue of Liberty, camera in one hand flash held with my left arm (haven't manage to hold the flash with right arm yet) and on the flash head I have Stofen Dome. Flash head tilted up 45-60.
