Cris,

Do a comparison and you will probably never shoot JPEG again. Shoot someone with very soft skin.... if the model is under 2 years old, it's even better

Shoot first w/jpeg and then same shot with RAW (or set your camera to RAW+JPEG) and look in PSCS3 at the results. The JPEG has auto contrast, color and "levels" done to it and will usually make the skin look far more harsh than if you shot in RAW and then did more gentle processing to the shot.

So besides color temp and all the other benefits of RAW, one of the most noticeable is the strong arm in-camera settings that are locked into the image.... once you have sharpened it like that, you can never go back.

Hey there Mr. Lehmkuhl
Good to see you in the forums here at PPR. I agree with you 100% and since this post was originally made I have introduced Lightroom into my workflow which gives me no reason at all to shoot jpeg anymore. Files are so easily converted out of LR to JPG when i need them that shooting anything other than RAW is not even a question any more.

Keep posting.

Cris...
