Has anyone purchased this printer or has access to one of the ICC profiles. For I am curious about the color space that this printer produces and to compare it against the Epson 4800. so if you can help me out, drop me a line,

Thanks

Hi Ziggy,

Sounds like you are coparing gamut's between the Canon and the Epson. Care to report your findings?

Well, here is what I found, and not this is from only the look of the Gamut of profiles from Lexjet for their Sunset Paper.

1. Between Epson 4800 and Canon iPF5000, really too close to call.
- Canon has deeper purples and a little more green
- Epson is better, by small margin, in the yellow/orange and red/purple
- but as stated really too close to call

2. Now here is something that some wont want to hear. Both Epson 4800
and Canon iPF5000 gamut fit so much better in Adobe RGB over sRGB
color space. For if you use sRGB, you lose out on a lot of green and
rich cyan and a little blue. Now I have heard the spiel about how
monitors can't show Adobe RGB, except 1. My personal feeling, if you
are going to be spending this amount of money for a high end printer,
spend the money to get a high caliber monitor. If not then you are
wasting the money on getting the printer in the first place, not to
forget about the digital camera that you are just throwing color away.
For I don't know about you, but I want all the color I can get.

Ps I just checked, yes as I was typing this, the difference between Epson 2200 and Epson 4800. You get a more on the end side of Orange to Magenta and a little more green to cyan, but they are pretty close. Just interesting to see.

So that is what I saw, hope this was helpful to some and not too hurtful to others.

Last but not least, you would think that the Blue would be better with the Canon since it has a blue ink. But as I said, I am going off of Lexjet's profiles. Canon wouldn't or couldn't send me a profile for this printer.

If I ever get one, I will let you know.
