Hi guys.

I'm not usually one to blow my own trumpet, but I'm really stoked.

We had a national model search competition that ran over the last 6 months. There were 120 photographers approached to be accredited for the event and to scout new talent. There was also a couple of competitions for the photographers, with the top award being for the photographer with the best portfolio.

The gala finals were held this weekend. Each photographer handed in a portfolio of 5 images printed 8 x12. There were 11 judges from Model Agencies, fashion magazines and photography lecturers.

I'm proud to say that my portfolio was chosen as the best portfolio. Here is an excerpt from a press release:

Congratulations to Mark Thomas for winning first prize for his portfolio at Cover Search 2007. This accolade is by far the most important prize any photographer could win at this event.

One of the many comments received was that Mark's work shows a huge artistic flavour and that he understands light, and how to use it creatively. One of the top designers in South Africa, one of the top Model scouts and editors from fashion magazines all specifically commented on his work.

How do you create the red, blue etc light on the backgrounds in those car images? Awesome stuff, Mark!

Thanks Stan. I photograph interesting skies and blend them into the final image. We have beautiful skies and light in SA.
