Do you have any suggestions how to photograph a thin model? See attached photo, I think my model went to thin in the photo.

Same model but face shot. She looks nice when I have only her face in my picture. I didn't get great pictures of her in full length. Should I have use wider lens instead of 150 mm lens?

Hi Robert,

I hadn't noticed a concern...until I took a close look at her arms. Yikes that is skinny! The problem is that she probably thinks that she looks great and wouldn't want you to add some weight to her. I would shoot her with long sleeves for one thing....then I would do just the opposite of what we usually try to do with women and BROAD light her. If you use a softbox then put the box in a horizontal position rather than vertical--do anything that you can to use the light to expand her. Try to control the shadows so that the shadows give the appearance of girth. If I was in the studio I might go low key without a separation light. I don't think a short lens is the answer--you want to fill her out without distorting her--a wider angle might actually elongate her body more--making her look even thinner.

Oh, and Robert? You KNOW that I'm going to yell at you for not having your name in these shots!!!!

Yeah! Long sleeves, and pants or skirt depending on her legs, but it looks like she has some seriously bony knees.. Broad light...And Light colors or white.

You could also commit that age old cardinal sin of posing and shoot her SQUARE to the camera [head on]!!!
