Hi,

I prefer the first one. As Stan said, the lighting is beautiful and the pose is really nice. You've got a great range of graytones from white to almost black--I'd ask for a little deeper blacks if I was in a cranky mood but I can't because it is such a classically beautiful image.

How was it captured? If it's digital did you capture it in black and white or did you convert it from color? If so, how?

Thanks for sharing the image.

Hello, Stephen!
It's definitely digital, captured in RAW with Canon 1D Mk2, 85/1.8 Lens, converted from color in PS CS3.

There are so many ways to convert color to b/w in PS. Which method did you use? Do you see a major change from CS2 to CS3?

Aloha David!

I have to agree with Steve... I like the 1st one better than the 2nd....but mostly because the skin texture is sooo smoooth in the first one...and looks kinda rough on the 2nd one. Her face almost has the glow of #1, but not the rest of her. Maybe because the side lighting in #2 accentuates the texture of her skin... Maybe a little 'noise reduction' or gaussian blur would smooth her out and give her that nice soft glow....

I'm with Steve and Stan, I love the first one! The second one either needs more noise/blur/contrast or something to kick it up. Thanks for posting these, great job.
