Thanks Steve. I underexposed the ambient light with a stop so you think I should expose correctly?

Hi Robert,

It all depends on the look you want. The ambient light seemed like a very soft diffuse light source so the contrast from the smaller strobes is even more apparent. You could probably balance the two and still maintain some of the contrast that you want. A small spotlight will appear to be the mainlight when exposed equal to the large diffuse fill light because of the harsher quality of light. Remember that if your strobe is equal to you fill then your overall exposure will be a full stop more than either individual exposure. For example, if the strobe is f 8 at 1/125 and the ambient is f 8 at 1/125 then the overall exposure is f 11 at 1/125.
