If you want to improve the look of your portfolio, attract new clients and assignments, or just impress your existing clients—you can’t go wrong with these five techniques.

Symmetrical Composition Technique

Shots that rely on symmetrical composition are always a big favorite of architects.  The main reason is that architects are keenly aware of the symmetry in their designs even though the viewer may not readily recognize it in the finished building.  Symmetrical compositions are visually striking and often somewhat abstract.  Their strong lines will also make a bold statement about your eye as an architectural photographer.  These shots often take a bit of effort to find, but are always well worth it.  This example was an assignment for Southwest Airlines showcasing their new terminal in Phoenix, Arizona.
