Since there is really no equipment section I'll ask here. What the latests on LCD's? Anyone have suggestions on what to buy? Anything new on the scene thats not already shown or talked about on Shootsmarter? I think my Lacie is on its last legs. Thanks for any input!!

Well, after much discussion and advise from ProPhotoResourse.com and CriticalServices.com where I bought my Greytag Macbeth Eye One monitor calibrator, I have been getting great results with my Gateway 22" TFT LCD.

Thanks for the reply. What's the deal with TFT's? I thought we should all be looking for S-ISP monitors.

Craig, I'll be honest wit you, bra...I know nothing about it! All I knew was that I needed a new monitor, wanted a flat panel that would give me good color and be adjustable, (callibratable), and I could afford. I'd love to have a $6000 monitor, but...I'd rather get the 44" printer...and I got the Gateway for $399! And I'm happy with it.

Far as TFT, ISP, whatevers...????

When I went to look for a primary monitor I did it a little different than most people recommend. I use a Canon Pro 9000 printer for most of my work and wanted a monitor that would match the colors of the printer as close as possible.

I printed a picture that had a good combination of colors, put the picture on a CD, and started visiting the local vendors that sold monitors. I found a LaCrie and an Envision monitor that displayed an on-screen image that almost perfectly matched the printed image. Since I don't have a couple thousand to shell out on a good LaCrie I went with the Envision.

Once you choose a vendor for processing your images you should (in my humble opinion) as them for recommendations on monitors that display images that closely match their finished product.
