Photoshop Effects for Portrait Photographers

This is a book that was born in desperation. After I made the jump to digital, and formally eliminated my darkroom, I realized how much I’d come to rely on tricks and techniques that I’d used for years as a film shooter. Photoshop is a very deep program, and I knew that if I spent enough time with the generic controls that I could figure out the digital formulas to replicate those same techniques. One thing led to another until I realized that I had enough for a whole new book.

Unlike other “effects” books, you won’t find any weird recipes for goofy “artistic” tricks that won’t even sell in a neighborhood art fair. I’ve documented, step-by-step, my formulas for Organic Vignettes, High Speed Film Grain, Wet Watercolor, Hand Coloring and many more.

Many of these techniques, like HyperColor, Grain Sketch and Oil Chalk, are original inventions and cannot be found anywhere else. In all, I’ll show you almost three dozen terrific ways to add to your creative bag of tricks, less than $1 apiece. And they’re not just for portrait photographers – shooters of every discipline can use my methods to increase their studio’s bottom line.
