Ed,
Very funny. You are a hoot. I love your sense of humor. You are right though. That is probably why very few people do it. But what about the photogs that shoot little league sporting events? Don't they typically print onsite or do they take orders?

Hi Carlos,
Thanks for resonding. Sounds like a pretty good little gig for some quick $. It sounds like he just takes lots of shots and hopes somebody will want to buy. He probably has a deal at the 1 hour quick print and gives them a kickback on every print sold. No, I'm like you. I don't see making enough $ to make that worthwhile but each to his own. It takes all kinds to make the world go round, right.

Regards,
George

Cris,

I responded to your email. I am sure it is a lot more work than it sounds like. I would definetly need an assistant. If I did do onsite printing does it sound reasonable to ask the sponsor for a minimum promised sell on top of a fee for showing up and getting setup?

You could try for a sell committment, but I doubt that it would float. The best that you can do is to have them agree that you are the only professional photographer taking the photos. Some of the games will be profitable and some won't. Good luck.

Hi Ed,

That was my thought too. Asking for a minimum sell committment. I was just wondering though if it would be better to represent the sell committment in another way. For example charge a day or hourly rate like a commercial photographer would do. Then charge ala carte for prints. Would it also be better to include at least a free proof book or album to the organizer so he or she feels they are at least getting something for their money? I wasn't thinking so much about doing sport shoots but instead shooting family events and parties.

Thanks,
George

Hi George,
Yes, they do that all day. The go to each baptism, first communion, and wedding events they can find. They show up with the pics and they sell almost everything.

You're right, your quote, "It takes all kinds to make the world go round, right."
