Canon 40D Settings 2 Years, 4 Months ago
Hi all.

Does anyone have the 40D? If so, how do you set the camera to ISO 100?
And how do you set the camera to the ISO expansion?
It may seem like a stupid question, but I can't seem to figure this out.
My camera goes down from 200 to AUTO. My highest ISO is 1600 but I can't get it to 3200. I have already set the Custom function for that. Is there a certain mode I need to be in?
(Learning Curve)
Thanks!
Ed

You have HTP enabled (Highlight Tone Priority). It's one of the custom functions (no, don't ask me which one. I put it on my custom menu). Check teh manual for where it hides. When it's enable the 00 in the ISO on the top LCD will be smaller - as in 16oo vs 1600, or 2oo vs 200.

So, if I am in the HTP mode, I cannot shoot at ISO 100?
Or does it choose 100 in the AUTO mode.
I just got the camera and I was going through the custom functions.
I must have missed that page in the manual.

Thanks!

With HTP on you can only have 200 to 1600 ISO.

I gave up on auto ISO after 5 minutes of playing with it. It wants ISO 400. Period. You can force it to move to something else, but might as well just set things to ISO 400 and be done with it.

I agree. I was also playing with it and found the same thing happened. No matter what, it stays on ISO 400.(I'm not happy with that).
Thanks for your help!

Expand ISO settings in the Custom Menu. Page 154 of the manual explains. And yes, you can choose ISO 100. Make sure the on/off switch is past on and "pointing" at the dial on the back of camera. You can change ISO by turning the back wheel in [M]anual mode.
