I have found optimal setting of 580EX with an 85 cm diameter wide umbrella. See more on my blog. If Chris like what i sees then I can try to translate it to English but I need someone who can correct my grammar.

Umbrellas are good in portrait and in general but it takes much space , When I do my weddings my 2nd light has a bouncer that spreads and softens the lightning , similar to flip it
