Image Submission Rules for the Gallery section of
"Canon: The Ultimate Photographer’s Guide" by Christopher Grey.


1. Images must be made with Canon cameras and lenses (and flash, if used).

2. Images may be posted to this forum for peer review and discussion or you may send them directly to me via email, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

3. Note the camera model, lens focal length and speed, and flash model.

4. Include a full explanation of any problem you ran into as you set up for the shot. Document any unusual lighting conditions, your use of Custom Functions (if you used them) or any other controls you used, especially if they could be considered “out of the ordinary”.

5. Images chosen from the Forum will need to be emailed to me as high resolution files, suitable for reproduction.

6. Whether your image is chosen from the Forum or by direct email to me, you will need to embed the following information in the metadata:

• Your name, address, and contact phone number


• Your copyright information


• The same information you would place into the Forum description


• The following phrase: As owner of this image, I hereby grant Christopher Grey the non-exclusive right to reproduce this work in his book “Canon- The Ultimate Photographer’s Guide” in the first edition and all subsequent editions, under this title or any subsequent titles, subject to the approval of the editors.

7. Submission of any image to the Forum or to me directly is no guarantee of acceptance.

8.PPR winners will be announced in the Forum and by email to the respective photographers. Please note that there is no payment attached to this offer, only bragging rights if your image is chosen.

9. Images must be submitted by April 15, 2007.

Attention all prospective contributors to this project: GO FOR IT!!! There are some photographers who would balk at the bragging rights clause of Chris' proposal. However the bottom line is that sometimes providing images to a project that you believe in can be reward in and of itself [just supporting a friend is often a great reward]...and can lead to some unexpected benefits. Several years ago my good friend Bill Hurter asked me to provide some images for what was his first [???] of many excellent books [same bragging rights]. My reaction was "What do you need?" My sole intent was to support a friend. I had no idea that that would lead to my own series of books. We don't talk about good business practices enough on this forum--and "free" is often disgarded as bad business. However there are many times when "free" reaps rewards beyond your imagination. Read the contracts and use your judgment. This is a great opportunity and it is one that I would happily join--if I shot with Canon gear!
