Back to the basics: Who Do You Serve? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Katie Humphreys

With the busyness of wedding season upon us, it’s easy to start feeling overwhelmed - each week can easily start seeming like a never-ending game of playing catch up and the work just keeps piling up.  With so many tasks that need our attention, it’s no wonder that so many photographers struggle with time management.  So how exactly do you prioritize and decide what matters most? When the season is hectic, we need to boil things back down to the basics and ask ourselves one major question: who do we serve?

The basic answer to this question, of course, is that we serve our clients.  In practice though, so many of us spend the majority of our time on activities that are actually serving us, the artist and businessperson.  We spend time on activities because we think they matter and because we are focused on our craft and building our business. The experience our clients have with us though, is not about our services - their experience with us is about how well we are able to fulfill the needs and desires that they have.  When we remember this, it brings new perspective in showing us what tasks are most important.
