I haven't addressed shared usage on this website, but it's an ongoing topic of discussion among AIAP members. I'll offer a few guidelines based on what I see in the market:
1. Fees for shared use projects are usually 50% to 200% higher than single use fees.
2. If you've already shot and billed a project for one client, many photographers will offer image usage to additional clients at 50% to 100% of the original fee, depending on the usage granted (unlimited, non-exclusive, one-year, three-year, etc.).
3. You must make certain that you spell out the usage you're granting to each client. I recommend that you make it clear to your primary client that the usage is "non-transferable" so that they don't simply "pass along" your photos to other entities without a fee.
4. Shared usage agreements and fees are always easier to define before a shoot than after the fact.
Best,
Alan
