Hello all.

I am new to Lightroom, new to photography and new to Forums...so be gentle.

My question about Lightroom is:

How do I rearrange the order of the images in the filmstrip.

I need to print out proof (contact) sheets for my client but the images are out of order (Wedding) and I'd like to rearrange them so they make sense timewise. I tried the F1 help menu but that was even more frustrating.

Please Help!

Thanks a lot!

Hi Ed,
All you have to do is select the thumbnail or thumbnails you wish to move and move them to the location you want them. Probably easiest to do this in the Library view mode.

You could also sort by time of day.

I hope this was what you were looking for.

Cris...

Thanks. Maybe it's just me but I can't get it to work. I will try in Library Mode.

I cannot use the sort by time of day because the wedding was shot using both Film and Digital and the Film ones are the ones messing me up.

Ed, not sure if you figured this out yet or not, but I'm pretty sure you have to do any of the sorting in the Folder's panel in Library Mode.

Okay...call me dumb if you wish but I am not able to change the order of the photos (in Library Mode) on my PC. I did find the location of how to do it (the sort options) but when I try to sort individual photos (by selecting them and trying to drag & drop) they do not move.

All I get is the symbol for (can't do it) the circle with the slash through it.

If you or someone can take me through (baby steps) I would be embarrassed, but greatly appreciative!
Thanks!

Ed, I am using LR 1.2 and you can only move photos around in thumbnail view. You need to be in Library mode and in either Folders or Collections. In either of those, once it has loaded all of the thumbnails, you simply left click to grab the file and drag it to where you want it. As you drag it, you will see a dark line appears between the two photos you are between and that is were the photo will be placed if you release the left mouse button.

If you can't do that, there is some thing going on with a setting or something. Hope this helps some.
