Breaking out of NX to LR (RAW) – Typically I would use NX to set the Black/White/Gray and I was happy (nice exposure, color tone & histogram). If I imported that file into CS3 and ran Curves on Auto – it was dead on.
When I skip NX, run that raw thru LR and select Auto, it generally increases the exposure, hence the brightness & histogram pushes right (nice) . Now if I open that LR file in CS3, run Curves on Auto, it increases the white (histogram line up) again. So what is happening in LR Auto vice CS3 Curves Auto?
I like the NX output but it is slow & tedious especially if you’re going to select each white/black point vice batch in Auto Levels. Suggestions on workflow first steps?

I've found this with so many things when switching from program to program. Even though i'm an avid LR fan there are still several things that i continue to process out of Capture One just because i like the look it gives me, not everything but some things. Though we all would like to Make LR our saviour and not have to use any other programs ( that would be nice ) I just don't think that day will ever come. Every program has it's own formula and secret sauce for doing what it does.

Sorry i can't give you the technical explanation to why it does what it does, just that I feel your pain and am often times in the same boat.

Couldn't agree more Chris Lightroom is fantastic and getting better with each release. Ishare your frustrations with the way lightroom interprets histograms differently to Photoshop.
Fuji hyper utility at least gives you the option of choosing the way it reads a histogram ,matching it to Photoshop if thats what you wish. Word processing programs are no different when writing essays I wish I could combine the best elements from several programs and get a program to do exactly what I need.
