Larry,
Thanks for posting that link. We gotta remember that LightRoom is only version 1 and is going to get alot more polished as Adobe starts getting feedback from it's users.

For me i'm happy to work around it's little idiosyncracies because it does everything else so well.

Here is a link to some really great FREE presets by Jack Davis the Photoshop WOW author.
http://www.ononesoftware.com/photopresets-wow.php

and a link to another site of FREE lightroom presets
http://lightroompresets.com/

I think this program has a very bright future at the very least will get other companies like Phase One to really up the anty on Capture One.

Cris,

The two links appear to be the same.

Anyway, kudos to Adobe for an excellent 1.0 release. The public beta was a smart move too. No doubt the next rev will be even better.

I had heard lots of good things about Photo Mechanic browser, so I downloaded the trial and I'm really impressed with its speed. However, this program is primarily a browser/image management software, so I'd still need a good RAW converter (I have Capture ONE LE) and Photoshop, for now.

Hey Larry,
Thanks for pointing out the link problem. I've gone ahead and corrected it with the proper link.

You are correct Photo Mechanic is fantastic as it is probably the fastest imaging preview program around. I've used it for years to quickly view my raw files. iView Media Pro works well to.

I'm looking forward to version 1.1 of Lightroom as I think it will fix some of the quirkyness of the current 1.0 release, with that said i still think it's a stellar program.

You have 3 good RAW converters then (assuming you have ACR with Photoshop).

Many people forget the software that comes with their camera. Most of the time it gives the best results, even though it's slow, doesn't have all the twiddly bits and has a UI from hell.

Mark,
You have a very good point, i spent some time today with Canon's Digital Photo Pro and it is quite a good RAW Processor, though it is lacking in a few areas I found that on some images I was really pleased by the results of the processed image.

So this brings up a good point, with critical images it may be good to run them through more than one RAW converter to see which creates the most pleasing results, all will handle the file a little bit differently.

Sadly, I have Photoshop CS which does not support the latest ACR, hence my newer camera is not supported. I've also heard a lot of good things regarding RAW conversion quality of C1, so I'm playing with it a bit (I've less than 8 hours with it). Also, Nikon chose to sell Capture NX separate from their DSLRs, and what comes free with the camera (NikonView) is quite limited. Anyhow, for the time being I do not "need" to buy any software, at least for a little while.
