By Steve DantzigI just returned from my first “real” vacation in six years. I took 9 days off and went to Fiji. The Polynesian culture is one of the many reasons that Hawaii called me back 8 times in two years before I moved here in 2003. Hawaiian history fascinates me. The early Hawaiians migrated from the various South Sea and Polynesian Islands and I wanted to see where part of that history came from. I just returned from my first “real” vacation in six years. I took 9 days off and went to Fiji. The Polynesian culture is one of the many reasons that Hawaii called me back 8 times in two years before I moved here in 2003. Hawaiian history fascinates me. The early Hawaiians migrated from the various South Sea and Polynesian Islands and I wanted to see where part of that history came from. My goal was to see some of the beauty of Fiji, but also to learn a little about Fijian History and compare that to what I know about Hawaii. I wanted to see the tourist spots as well as the towns and villages. Here are some photographs of what I saw. The Beauty of Fiji:
One of the familiar sites on the beaches of Fiji is the combination of white sand, deep blue skies and green vegetation.
