Here it is September already. Where does the time go? September is always the month I reflect on where I am currently at and where I want to go with my business. I feel it is very important to make mini goals for oneself.
What are my goals? To streamline my business, get back to taking more photographs, to remind my favorite vendors of who I am and why they should recommend me, and importantly, where is my hard earned money going?
One of the best decisions I've made this year was to hire two digital artist. I am the control freak's control freak, and absolutely love Photoshop so this was a very difficult decision to make. I can't even begin to tell you how much I am enjoying my decision. I have made a list of all kinds of projects I've "been meaning to get to" and now I am actually getting to them. How did I choose the individuals? The most important quality I needed was someone with a humble spirit. The first job I assigned them was to clean the office, empty the trash, and do the "dumb stuff." I figured if they did that job with zeal and looked for additional things to do without having to ask me, then they had the necessary skills to start. Of course they needed to know their way around the keyboard, Photoshop, and yes needed to have an eye for good color.
I am now able to turn over the day to day digital work, and can concentrate on creating a new brochure for the new year, tweak my wedding collections, and create some beautiful wall enlargements for my local vendors.
